13 reasons why YOU SHOULD WATCH THE GET DOWN!

1. black and latinx representation. there are less than 5 white characters and none of them are part of the main cast
2. a+ soundtrack including a song from christina aguilera as a tribute to the pulse victims
3. great cast
4. portrays a drug addict (jackie) as a talented, friendly person who has potential
5. rara has watched star wars 57 times
6. we see a housewife (lydia) standing up for herself and setting herself and her daughters free from her abusive husband
7. girls of color being successful while doing what they love
8. a beautiful interracial gay relationship with a bisexual black boy who explores and accepts his same gender attraction
9. while not pointed out in a very . positive way, gay shao was heavily implied on part 2
10. heavy look on subjects like the history of hip hop, racism, sexism, abuse, political corruption, lgbt people in the 70s and much more
11. we see marginalized people and their desire to improve and be successful 
12. some real funny moments
13. two white men getting beat the fuck up after calling shao and zeke the n word
